Last Update: March 1, 2026
To think I almost bailed on Phuket altogether is completely insane. Before I came to Thailand in February, I knew I was going to stay in The Land of Smiles for pretty much of 2025. This resulted in my friends planning a girls’ trip towards the end of this year, Destination: Phuket.
And of course, as the adage goes, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. A little more than halfway into my time in Thailand, which I had spent primarily in Bangkok and Pattaya, I was getting the itch to leave Thailand altogether. Not that there’s anything wrong with Thailand, I truly love it here, but I was getting restless nonetheless. Add to that, several people gave me numerous unsolicited opinions about how overrated Phuket is, which I foolishly started internalizing.
However, over the summer, a friend from Dallas decided to move to Phuket, and given I was already locked into Southeast Asia through November due to the girls’ trip and my already-purchased-and-changed-multiple-times return ticket, I decided to just bail on Bangkok early and head to Phuket, come what may.

To say I fell in love before I even got off the plane would be an understatement. So much so, I’ve decided to make this my home base moving forward. However, since the focus of this piece is food, I won’t go into too much detail here, but just know, Phuket is definitely worth a visit. From the city, to the nature, to the beach, to the culture, to the food, to the community, this place is amazing.
So, if there is one piece of advice I can give you when it comes to this solo travel thing? Take others’ opinions on destinations at the fucking TINIEST grain of salt. Their life is not yours. Their tastes are not yours. Their temperament is not yours. Their goals are not yours. In short and with all due respect: Phuck Them People. DO YOU.
On that note, let’s get to the best food finds I’ve found during my time in Phuket. For a variety of reasons, I was somewhat a creature of habit while there, so I didn’t try as many new places as I probably should’ve. Another note on seasonality: November-April is considered high season in Phuket, especially January- March. Expect all prices, food, transportation, lodging, etc to be 20-40% higher during this time than in slower months.
That being said, the amount and variety of fresh and healthy food items in Phuket is boundless, and as with my other food-related posts, I’ve created a Google Maps link with all of the restaurants and cafes.

Best Workday Cafes:
If you’ve been a reader of my blog, you likely know I am a Basic Starbies Bitch. Not because I’m in love with the brand and certainly not because I support all their corporate ideologies. However, their brand and stores are consistent and familiar, have easy access to all-day WiFi (except in Hong Kong, of all places), are typically drowning in natural light, and have a variety of comfortable seating options. Given my age and the number of various surgeries I’ve had over the last several decades, the latter is extremely important if I’m going to be able to execute a full, productive day of work.
I am more than happy to report that since touching down in Phuket, I have found many local cafes that fit my needs, and my lifelong Starbies patronage is finally trickling away. That being said, let’s dive into the best workday cafes I’ve found since my arrival.
Cannelle Bakery & Co.: I found this place purely by chance. After watching the replay of the Broncos putting up 33 points in the fourth quarter against NYG, I decided to order some food on Grab to avoid the torrential rain. That somehow turned into me deciding to just catch a Grab to Canelle instead, and I’m so glad I did. This is a quaint, cozy cafe and bakery set at the back of the My Front Yard shopping complex. Almost floor-to-ceiling windows make up 3 of the 4 walls, they have a ton of fresh bakery items and custom coffees, and plenty of yummy and healthy breakfast and lunch offerings, complete with Vegan and Vegetarian options. While not “cheap,” the pricing is reasonable, with an iced mocha, fresh watermelon juice, a fully-loaded bagel sandwich, and a side salad coming in at just over $14.
The vibes and soundtrack are immaculate. The AC is set just right. They even have an in-house toilet, which, if you’ve been in Thailand for any length of time, you know most restaurants, especially those in shopping complexes, don’t. Finally, they have a coffee loyalty program that doesn’t require signing up for anything or needing to be tied to a Thai phone number. This is now my new go-to haunt. I love it, I love it, I love it.
WeCafe: WeCafe has several locations around Phuket, with my go-to location being in Chalong. Their menu is packed with healthy food and drinks, including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Like Cannelle, WeCafe can’t be considered cheap in general, but they have several items that have tremendous value for money, including their almost-gallon of fresh watermelon juice for just over $6, and fresh build-your-own salads starting at just $3.33. The standard salad I order (pictured below) includes the add-ons of spinach, two hard-boiled eggs, and almonds, and costs less than $6 all in. Comfortable enough to sit in all day, free wifi, and plenty of comfy seating options near plugs, is the perfect place to sit, work, and eat tons of yummy, healthy food. Also, their Coconut Iced Latte is one of the best iced coffee drinks I’ve ever had.
OG Cafe: Located toward the front of Phuket’s infamous “Fitness Street” in Chalong, OG Cafe is small but effective, with both indoor and outdoor seating, all the AC you could want, and plenty of coffee, pastries, and healthy food items. A complement to their clothing brand, the cafe is the perfect place to escape the sometimes chaotic streets of The Soi, and knock out a little work in relative peace. My personal recommendation? The Mango Madness Smoothie Bowl with a FRESH Croissant on the side and Espresso Caramel Latte. YUM!
Bartels: Though right up the street from WeCafe and Canelle (plus several other locations across the island), I only made it to Bartels once. I’m not a sandwich girlie typically, so it wasn’t high on my list to visit. But shortly before I left, my friend asked me to meet him for a work day, and I decided it would also be a good day to finally conquer my fear of jumping on a Grab bike (a story for another post). Bartels is perfect for working from, with varied table setups, comfy seating, and plenty of plugs placed strategically throughout the space. In addition to sandwiches they have a variety of flatbreads, smoothies, coffees, and entrees galore. I tried the a flatbread with fresh fruit, jam, and ricotta, and it was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. And their Tiramisu Iced Latte? The best I’ve had since Earth Society in BKK.

Best Cafes & Eateries:
Avocado Cafe: Just up the street from my go-to gym, Avocado became my go-to eatery for lunch and a little computer work into workouts and clients. So-much-so that before I even sat down, the staff would start making my standard Mango Chia Pudding order. Their menu is expansive, including everything from Thai staples, pasta, smoothie and smoothie bowls, soups, sandwiches, pressed juices and everything in-between. The food quality is high, and the prices are very reasonable, especially in the off-season.
Raga Bakery & Cafe: I found this (primarily) outdoor cafe after my appointment with a wellness clinic (more on that later), and it is literally one of the cutest little cafes I’ve visited. They have a large selection of fresh pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and custom coffees. There is a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of plugs, wifi, and fans (even for the outdoor seating), and a gorgeous koi pond. There is even a hamburger/hot dog food truck on site and plenty of places for insta photo ops. The only reason I didn’t make this one of my faves is that its location is kinda out of the way (halfway between my apartment and Rawai Beach without much around it). Additionally, the seating isn’t as comfortable as I would need it to be to work all day, and given the indoor/outdoor setup, you have to battle with Phuket’s infamous mosquitos. Overall though, the food and ambiance make it well worth the visit.
Black & Coffee Co.: This little coffee shop lives up to its name aesthetically and is open until midnight. Located about halfway down Fitness Street in Chalong, its a great spot to knock out a little late-night work after (or before) a workout. The coffee and pastries are good, and they serve up unique flavor combinations. Compared to other coffee shops in the area, this place is pretty on trend when it comes to price.

Best Restaurant Phinds:
Issara: I found this gem on my second trip to Phuket, and when I walked in the very first saw was a painting of Anthony Bourdain. To say I felt called to be there after that would be an understatement. The fusion concept is the brainchild of Croatian brothers MasterChef winner Chef Nikola, and Filip, mixologist and features high-end bites and drinks, with an ambiance that was unmatched at almost any other restaurant I visited. With two locations on the island, on Kata Beach and in Bang Tao, each offers a different and unique vibe, and the Truffle Mac & Cheese? Absolutely worth the headache of catching a Grab across the island.
KEP: Thanks to my friends Cory and Darius, I celebrated my birthday at this gorgeous oceanside restaurant. With probably the most unquie drink selection I came across on the islands, the restaurant also serves a variety of Thai staples, grilled delicacies, pastas, salads and all the seafood you could possibly handle. The staff was attentive but not overbearing, and while you can’t see the sunset from that side of the island, the ambiance of the primarily outdoor restaurant, especially as the dusk turns to night, is unmatched. Side note: The vibes, and food, and company was so good, I forgot to take any pictures of the meal itself, LOL, hence the image of me and the homies above. 🙂
Zuri: While only one of my friends made the girls’ trip, we had a blast nonetheless and made the most of adventuring and trying different restaurants. One of these was Zuri, a second-story indoor/outdoor restaurant overlooking Patong Beach that serves a combo of Thai, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisines. The food is fresh, healthy, and made-to-order, and the views overlooking the Andaman Sea are immaculate. Zuri leans toward the more expensive side, but the food quality and amount received are worth the money spent. While they also serve breakfast, the options are much more savory and not what I am typically drawn to for breakfast or brunch, which is why I’m putting it in the Lunch & Dinner section.
Nikita’s: Like Zuri, I discovered this while adventuring with Lindsay. This beachside bar and restaurant sits at the tip of Phuket and overlooks Rawai Beach and nearby islands. While there aren’t as many options here for vegans and vegetarians, it is a pescatarian’s dream. The food is fresh and served beachside. It was also pretty busy while we were there in the afternoon, so I’m sure in the evenings, especially at sunset, this place is an absolute vibe.
